RTFKT Exodus Campaign

Designed the Exodus interactive campaign to chronicle one of the most momentous events in the CloneX universe—the survival of 20,000 Clones after the destruction of their home world, Orbitar. This chapter wove together digital collectibles from previous chapters in a fun and interactive way, culminating in the formation of a new space fleet destined to explore the universe and seek out a new home.

From an experience design perspective, the campaign seamlessly blended multiple storytelling elements, including a three-part short created in Unreal Engine 5, which showcased the potential of CloneX assets while delving deeper into the existing lore. In the story, some previously collected digital assets were revealed to have been infused with a special energy, granting them the ability to transform into spaceships that would help the Clones escape. These items could also be combined to unlock rarer, higher-stat vessels. The campaign extended into the metaverse, where these spaceships featured customizable interiors, allowing the community to curate and personalize their shared virtual spaces. Additionally, 3D models of the spaceships, interior and exterior, were made available to the community for use in virtual environments and user-generated content.

This complex campaign provided deep community engagement, interactive features, and shareable content, laying the groundwork for future journeys in the CloneX universe.

PART ONE

THE WARNING

A lone scout was patrolling the orbitar hot zone when an unusual signal was intercepted. Following it to its source, we discovered a downed probe still smoldering from its descent from orbit.

The probe was transmitting an encrypted beacon, one that had triggered the launch of a weapon of absolute devastation: a planet killer.

PART TWO

THE SIGNAL

We had uncovered what can only be described as a worst-case scenario; all outgoing transmissions were scrambled by the probe. Our scout raced by speeder to get within comms range, engaging a dangerous hard burn.

The warning had to be delivered to the progenitor facility at all costs: evacuate!

PART THREE

THE EXODUS

When the clones assigned to orbitar@draco 42 received word of the incoming planet-killer, the exodus mission began immediately. Aetheric energy was transferred from the progenitor facility to the pods. 20,000 clones escaped in the newly created ships.

Now, the pods traverse open space, seeking a new home. Destination? Unknown.

EXTERIORS

SPACEPOD - Highly maneuverable, the A-Class original is the dependable scout of the exodus fleet

The pods were crafted by ARC Space Industries, a branch of my fictional company that specializes in the research and development of robotics, synthetic intelligence, and aerospace initiatives. Each exterior design was a unique, bespoke creation, designed to fit within the CloneX universe.

These detailed models reflected ARC Space Industries' expertise and commitment to innovation, offering the community visually stunning spaceships that not only enhanced the campaign’s lore but also provided immersive assets for use in virtual environments and user-generated content.

LOOTPOD - The LootPod's hibernation chamber and gen8 pilot AI makes it perfect for long-distance missions.

EXOPOD - The social hub of the clone fleet, the ExoPod marries cutting-edge utility with a comfy, welcoming interior.

LUXPOD SKIN

To add an extra layer of flair, we teamed up with the legendary design studio TDR (The Designers Republic) to create a special skin for the rarest pod, the LUXPOD.

TDR, best known for their groundbreaking work in futuristic graphic design and iconic contributions to the video game Wipeout, brought their unique aesthetic to elevate the design, making the LUXPOD a standout collectible in the campaign.

The Pods

INTERIORS

The pods were designed as versatile, customizable spaces that allowed users to display their favorite artworks or collectibles and share them with friends. Each pod featured customizable interiors, enabling the community to curate and personalize their own shared virtual environments.

In addition to the customizable interiors, 3D models of the spaceships, both interior and exterior, were made available to the community for use in virtual environments and user-generated content, further extending the interactive possibilities within the CloneX universe.

Posters

As part of the campaign, we created a series of posters for each pod, highlighting their unique roles and significance within the fleet. Each poster captured the distinct design and capabilities of the pods, visually celebrating their place in the Exodus story and the newly formed space fleet.
